Łukasz Długosz is recognized by critics as a leading flutist in our time. He is a graduate of the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich, the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris and Yale University (USA). He has won several prestigious international competitions in Paris, Munich, Odense (Denmark), and Viggiano (Italy). He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Europe, Asia and the USA, and with many renowned European orchestras at venues such as Carnegie Hall (New York), the Musikverein and Konzerthaus (Vienna), the Konzerthaus in Berlin, Munich Philharmonic and the Gewandhaus in Leipzig (Germany). He has played under such conductors as Zubin Mehta, James Levin, Krzysztof Penderecki, Jacek Kaspszyk, Agnieszka Duczmal, Helmuth Rilling, and Jerzy Maksymiuk.

He has frequently performed Krzysztof Penderecki’s flute concerto under the baton of the composer with whom he recorded it on disc in 2014. He has also made many other highly praised CD recordings. Many prominent contemporary composers have dedicated works to him including Enjott Schneider, Michael Colin, Harald Genzmer, Kaja Sariaho, Paweł Mykietyn, Grażyna Pstrokońska-Nawratil, and Piotr Moss.

His concerts have been broadcast by major radio stations such as BBC Radio 3, SWR, BR4, Deutschlandradio Kultur, Polish Radio PR2, NDR, Radio France, RMF Classic. He has also served as a jury member at international flute competitions. He gives master classes in Europe and Asia. For his outstanding achievements he has received a number of prestigious nominations and awards from, among others, Gloria Artis, Gasteig-Musikpreis, the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Zeit-Preis, Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, and Polityka magazine.

The National Bank of Poland has financed a television documentary about him, broadcast on TVP1 and TV Polonia. He has made many recordings under the following labels: Sony, Naxos, and Fleur de Son Classic. In January 2010 he made his debut with the London Symphony Orchestra, which then recorded an album with a concert by Michael Colin. In January 2015 he received the International Classical Music Award (ICMA).
